Eid Mubarak ! Eid in Indonesia !

Hello, blogwalkers ! today, i want to tell you about Eid (commonly called as Lebaran) in Indonesia. The people of Indonesia celebrate Eid  with great enthusiasm and peace. We have traditions for Eid. We usually celebrate for two days. we wake up early in the morning, take a shower and put on new clothes or the best available, then we go early for Eid shalat. We visit relatives, friends and neighbours for greeting, forgiving, giving some money to children, and going to Makam.

After ask forgiveness, we eat ketupat and some cakes. Ketupat is traditional eaten on Eid in Indonesia, we eat ketupat with traditional food such as Rendang (Traditional food from Minangkabau, a meat with coconut milk), Sayur Nangka, Opor Ayam, and Semur Daging. Another special is Nastar. Nastar is the most popular cookies for Lebaran. it's filled with pineaple jam.

Another interesting Eid tradition in Indonesia is mudik that usually applies to urbanites who came to Jakarta from the other provinces of Java or other islands in Indonesia. Before Eid comes, people will go back to their hometowns where their relatives, sometimes including their parents, reside. This event often causes crowding in airports, seaports, and bus stations while some who are traveling by car are trapped in the traffic jam for hours.

It's so fun, right?

That's all i want to tell you about Eid in indonesia, what about Eid Celebration in your country? I hope the glory day (eid) can make us better :)

“If you want to know whether Islam, democracy, modernity, and women’s right can coexist, go to Indonesia.”
- Hillary Clinton on her visit to Indonesia, 2009.
